UK Travel Consultant

Alliki Raim

Hi! My name is Alliki and I work as a UK Travel Consultant at Hurtigruten Estonia. I came here because of the values this company has, and the amazing stories I have heard. I have not been disappointed. I am helping people achieve their dreams every day and it’s really a heart-warming job for me.

I have a strong connection with my team and I’m always excited to see new people joining us. I love the diversity we have here. Our employees have completely different backgrounds and it really enriches the working environment. I think that during my time at Hurtigruten Estonia, I have learned the most about different people, cultures and languages and I am grateful for that.

If I had to describe one typical workday at Hurtigruten, Estonia. I would say there isn’t one. We don’t have much of a routine and every day is different. One thing is for sure though, the most important part of my day is…coffee.

Our phone lines open at 11 am and the first few hours of the day are usually the busiest. By lunchtime, the team is usually in full swing and in the afternoon things start to quiet down, which also gives time to chat with colleagues. We have fun here a lot, too. For example, once I found out the hard way that it’s just not a good idea to put metal in the microwave. I put my coffee cup in there and… well, let’s just say that it didn’t go well.

I truly believe Hurtigruten Estonia is a great place to work. The most important skills that come in handy here are teamwork and communication skills and a good sense of humour for sure. We will welcome you with open arms! See what it is like to work as a Travel Consultant

French market Travel Consultant

Mathys Javelaud

Hi! I’m Mathys, a Travel Consultant in the French market. I consider myself to be an active person. I love football, camping and disc golf … and also cars.

I joined Hurtigruten Estonia around three years ago when I was searching for a job to settle in Tallinn. This opportunity was perfect for me. I speak English and Estonian outside of work and at home, but at work I can keep speaking my mother tongue – French.

I like contacting clients and making their dream voyage come true. It is always a pleasure to go to work and I’m truly lucky to be part of such an amazing team. We constantly explore new possibilities and ideas, which can be about the company and how to make the work easier and better, as well  about new opportunities to advance your career.

I have learned many things while working here, but especially that I have to be really precise in my work. A simple mistake can disrupt the client’s voyage. So, I’m always careful and pay attention to detail.

Flight Operations Coordinator

Kristel Päss

Hi! I am Kristel and I am working at Hurtigruten Estonia as a Flight Operations Coordinator. I’ve been working here for more than 10 years already and during this time I’ve grown and learned a lot. Every day here is different and you can never know what challenges are waiting for you. After ten years there is always something new to learn and I am grateful for that.

My typical workday starts with a check-in with our Flight and Emergency team. My job consists of solving problems and helping my co-workers and this is the thing that I enjoy the most. Finding solutions and overcoming obstacles both make me smile every day.

I really appreciate that Hurtigruten Estonia is a very international company and it is always growing. There are a lot of opportunities to apply to different positions in the company and this gives our employees a chance to always learn something new. For example, I’ve learned a lot about other people and cultures while working here.

Hurtigruten Estonia is a flexible company. I personally really enjoy working from home and having the flexibility to choose where I work.

When you can think outside of the box and know how to keep calm in stressful situations then I believe that Hurtigruten Estonia is a great place for you.

Flight Operations Manager

Tõnis Metsar

Hi! My name is Tõnis and currently, I’m a Flight Operations Manager in Hurtigruten. I started in 2009 as an outsourced employee When Hurtigruten Estonia was founded, I got an offer to join. As I loved my job and the amazing trips we offer, this was an easy decision.

I’ve moved between different flight team positions over the years. There isn’t one typical workday. Every day in the travel industry and flight department can be a surprise. I love that we can fulfil customers’ dreams and make them happen in the best possible ways. I appreciate most that work is always varied, never dull, and nice puzzles are the best challenges.

I have an incredible team. I enjoy the advice we share amongst ourselves, growing and facing new challenges together. While working in Hurtigruten, there have been many memorable stories. But one of the good ones was years ago when a colleague wondered how it is possible that a plane leaves from Helsinki at 07:45 and arrives at Arlanda at 07:45, it’s supposed to be a one-hour flight, but it looks like time travel.

If you are always ready to develop further, a good listener, flexible, with high-stress tolerance, and able to multitask – Hurtigruten is the right place for you. Check out what Tõnis is saying about his work

Nordic market Travel Consultant

Nils Waage

Hi! My name is Nils and I’ve been working at Hurtigruten Estonia for almost a year. Coming here was like an adventure to me as I had no previous experience with this country. But since I’m an extrovert and love meeting new people and getting to know different cultures I decided to come.

I’ve had a ton of fun staying here. At Hurtigruten Estonia, we have a supportive team with whom we’ve become good friends. A great team and a supportive atmosphere are the reasons I’d definitely recommend working here. If you are patient enough and can multitask then it’s a place for you. Get to know our work culture

When I think of our slogan “Explore with us” then for me, it means to find your potential and if you are a person who has a drive to constantly improve and love to grow as a person every single day, then Hurtigruten is a great place where to work. The job is challenging as there are many unknown problems that may come up during the day, but it’s never boring nor too frustrating. I am happy I came here.

Inventory Analyst

Stanislav Zabashtin

Hi! I am Stanislav and I work at Hurtigruten Estonia as an Inventory Analyst. I’ve been working at this company for 13 years already. During these 13 years, I have grown, learned and seen a lot.

As an Inventory Analyst I mainly work with SeaWare program, Jira and Outlook, also using plenty of Excel, PowerBI and other programs that help me gather and analyse the data. Most of all I enjoy managing and optimizing ship capacity for departures and working with group requests. We have a great team. As our Revenue Department is located not only in Tallinn, but also in Oslo and Hamburg, it brings an interesting diversity and different work approach. We also have truly the BEST summer days in our company. Personally, I have participated at every single one of them and it’s something that I´m waiting for the whole year.

What I love about our company and about our slogan “Explore with us” is that we as a cruise company never stop. We learn from our mistakes and move forward no matter what happens. We explore not only new destinations but also new ways to work and adapt to everything that’s happening around us in this fast-paced world.

If you are someone who pays attention to detail, you are self-organized, can work independently and know how to work with Excel then you’ll love it here. We have flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home. We have Stebby to support our health and activities. Our office is cool and it’s located in Kadriorg.

IT Service Desk Operations Manager

Gerda Tilk

My name is Gerda and I started my career in Hurtigruten approximately 12 years ago. I decided to try something completely new in my life. Fresh out of high school, I didn’t know what to study, so I decided that I would go and work for a year or two until I figured out what I would like to be in the future. That plan turned out to be a years-long adventure with many experiences and opportunities.  Hurtigruten has set the foundation for my career and has given me many opportunities to grow in my role.

From that also comes the thing I love the most about working in Hurtigruten – the possibilities they offer for young people and the trust that they give them. The company supports and encourages its employees to educate themselves and invests in trainings and courses that will help employees grow in their role.

Another thing I like about Hurtigruten is our team. No matter the challenge we will tackle it as a team and we always have each other’s back.

“Explore with us” in Hurtigruten doesn’t only have a meaning for our wonderful travel destinations. I believe the whole company is continuously exploring, literally in every department. Exploring new ways to get better in what we do, constantly looking for improving our systems, processes, destinations and so on. That is what makes Hurtigruten also an exciting and interesting place to work at. It never gets boring as there is always something new and exciting waiting for us to tackle.

Guest Relation Emergency Specialist

Merle Kärner

Hi! My name is Merle and I work as a Guest Relation Emergency Specialist at Hurtigruten Estonia. I’ve been working here for over 7 years already and still loving it. I have had a few different positions, but from the first day I came here, I felt that it was the best decision I’ve made.

What I most love about my work is the possibility to always look for solutions to our guests´ problems and make them happy. Every successfully solved issue brings a smile to my face. At Hurtigruten Estonia, every day is different and brings on new tasks and challenges. We regularly need to think outside of the box and find individual solutions for clients if needed.

We have to be flexible because you never know what may happen during the day and what kind of challenges may wait for us. This is exactly what motivates me and gives me energy. I am not the kind of person who wants to live a routine life.

Our team at Hurtigruten Estonia is like family. We help each other and we motivate each other. Sometimes our days can get long, but we work together closely and support each other always. We also have regular team events like hiking and camping, sauna etc. Check out how much fun we had in our annual Spring Gala

Team Leader of the German team

Pascale Emmisberger

Hi! My name is Pascale and I work at Hurtigruten Estonia as a Team Leader of the German team. I applied for the job when I was living in Switzerland. I had been working in Estonia before and during that time I fell in love with the country and promised myself I’d come back.

I’ve been working at Hurtigruten Estonia for around two years now. Every day here is unique and even after two years I still have so much to learn.  The product itself is really motivating for me. I love the moments when I talk with customers about trips to Antarctica or Svalbard and I can hear their joy through the phone, it’s just amazing. We are truly selling a dream. It’s been an interesting journey working here.  I believe it is a perfect job for someone who is social and loves to communicate, someone who feels comfortable working under pressure and can handle stress and someone who is both solution- and customer-oriented.

Our days can get busy and sometimes stressful too, but often they are also really funny. I always think that okay, now I’ve heard every single question there is, and then one of my teammates comes asking: “There is a guest, who just asked if they can buy diapers in Norway,” and I am completely flabbergasted … again.  😀
