’My name is Brian, and I work as a Learning & Development Mentor for Hurtigruten Estonia. I started with Hurtigruten in June 2021 as a UK Travel Consultant and quickly realized that the company was far more than just another cruise company, it was in fact one that embraced the values that it stated that it stood for. It was actually a company that cared, empowered, inspired and explored both with our customers and our staff.
I had the opportunity very quickly to move from a sales role to a training role, where I could have a direct impact by helping our new hires, and existing Travel Consultants become empowered to assist our customers in achieving their dreams.
Some of my duties include new employee training and familiarisation trips, which gives me an opportunity to introduce our new hires to the company, including the amazing Norwegian heritage that we have, and really demonstrates the value that we place in our employees by the amount of time and effort that we invest in their training within the first few months of their employment.
My role allows me to have a great working relationship with all of our different departments here in Tallinn, and it is great to interact with so many different nationalities that we have working here.
Every day working for Hurtigruten brings different challenges, and by embracing these challenges I feel that I can really make a difference.
